THE first rounds of the second half have thrown up some excellent close encounter games.

The Buccaneers

Matt Stanger, 16 Darts, and James Johnstone, 180, kicked off proceedings with Matt taking the spoils 3-0. Matt Davies and John Nowland couldn’t be separated with a point apiece in a 2-2 draw.

Dai Randall beat Neil Thomas to get his campaign up and running, and in an epic encounter with Matt Stanger, including both players hitting 17 darters in a 2-2 draw.

John defeated Neil 3-1, with both struggling to hit the elusive double, in a tight game, and Matt Davies and James fought out another stalemate with both hitting big Scores along the way.

Neil’s miserable evening was soundly rounded off with Mr Stanger taking out 116 in a 3-0 loss.

The final game saw Dai and John fight out an enthralling 2-2 draw.

Matt Stanger is the early pace setter, on 7 points from 4 games, with Dai and John on 4.

Defending champion Mark Stevens kicks off his campaign this Sunday, with a game against Matt Stanger being the highlight.

The Mutineers

After failing to qualify for the top table, Alan Oliver is making a determined effort in the lower division.

With 4 consecutive victories he sits atop on 8 points, beating Steve Turnbull, Marissa, Paul Cox (180) and Paul Jenkins in a tight 3-1 match.

Other results saw Paul Jenkins and The Sparkle fight out a topsy turvy 2-2, and Paul also drew with Steve in his second match.

Nathan defeated the spirited Marissa 3-0 and also drew with Steve. Paul Cox saw off The Sparkle in a close game.

This week sees the draw for the Singles competition. Reminder to all players, games start promptly at 7.30pm.
