SULLY Sports Bowls Club opened their season hosting nearest neighbours Sully Bowls Club in a friendly last Saturday, 20th April, on a warm sunny afternoon, and played with great comradery and competitiveness.

The 1st act of comradery came before the game commence, when with the Sports a man short, Paul Spay from the Sully Club stepped in to ensure a full team on both sides.

Although the Sports won 80 – 46 on aggregate, and won on all four rinks, things were tight on three rinks for much of the game. Lee Romans was behind until the 6th end, then lost the lead on the 10th to finally regain it on the 15th and ease to a win. G Brown’s rink although never behind were level after 8 ends, but pulled away in the remaining 10 ends, and onK Aguis’ rink, the lead changed hands 5 times until a strong final 4 ends saw them home.

Rink Scores:

A Thompson, P Collier, G Currie, G Brown 25-13;

B Knight, P Spay, L Adams, R Matthews 16-09;

P Holland, D Davies, C Coomber, L Romans 19-12;
