DURING the Easter weekend Beca Evans, aged 16, from Sully and Beth Munroe-Morris, 15, from Penarth both represented Wales Hockey under 16s in their test series against Scotland at the Sports Wales National Centre Sophia Gardens.

Beca also captained the series, and although Wales lost two and drew one, the test series was competitive and evenly contested.

The international series saw both boys and girls under 18s and under 16s challenge Scotland at Sport Wales Centre, Sophia Gardens.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Beca. “I was so proud to have all my family and friends there to support us.”

Beth added: “We’ve been training for months, there’s a high level of commitment, but we enjoy everything Hockey Wales has to offer.”

Both players have played for Cardiff and the Vale prior to their inclusion within the Welsh Hockey NAGS setup, where they train on a regular basis.

Beca and Beth also play for Penarth Ladies first team. The club are immensely proud of the girls achievements, and it’s testament to the hard work of everyone involved in the development of Penarth Ladies Hockey Club, who have a growing membership of over 170 players. They present all aspects of what hockey has to offer, it’s an encouraging, competitive and very friendly environment. They have 4 senior outdoor teams, 1 indoor team, and a number of junior teams from under 11’s to under 18’s, that both Beca and Beth have played for since a very young age.
