AS the Vale of Glamorgan Association Football League winds to a close, there were a few cup matches to decide the final Champions of 2018/19.

To begin, the Vale of Glamorgan Association Football League took centre stage for the South Wales Football Association Intermediate Cup Final between Holton Road FC and Tynewydd DC at the Kymco Stadium on Saturday 4th May. In a tight game, Holton Road became treble winners with a 2-0 win to lift the SWFA Intermediate Cup to go with the League and Cup double.

Sunday 5th May closed the Cup Final period of the league beginning with the Year 7 Final between Sully Sports Black and Cowbridge Town Reds. Sully Sports Blacks took the lead with two early goals and maintained their lead to half time. Another quick succession of goals put Sully Sports Black firmly in the driving seat. Towards the end Sully Sports Blacks were awarded a penalty which was gave them their fifth of the game. Cowbridge valiantly kept in the game and were kept from scoring by the goal keeper plus a defender with a goal line clearance. In one of the last attacks of the game, Cowbridge Town Reds were awarded a penalty which was scored giving them their consolation goal.

Final Score - Sully Sports Blacks 5-1 Cowbridge Town Reds.

Shortly following the final the Year 8 Final took place between Penarth Town Raiders and Cogan Coronation AFC. Despite being goalless at halftime the game was shaping up to be a classic with the keepers heavily involved in the game to deny each side their goals. The dead lock was broken ten minutes into the second half with a deft lob over the Penarth keeper to give League Champions Cogan Coronation AFC the lead. However, Penarth were not to be beaten; scoring their equaliser within five minutes and a goal to take the lead a few minutes later. The second goal proved to be the goal required to secure the Billy Butlin Trophy along with the League Runners Up trophies.

Final Score - Penarth Town Raiders 2 – 1 Cogan Coronation AFC.
