PENARTH RFC chairman Mike Gooding and Youth coaches Dai Williams and Simon Rees were delighted to be presented before the recent Good Friday game with the Wales Under 20s 2018 6 Nations international shirt worn by Penarth RFC Youth player Owen Lloyd.
Lloyd, who won three international caps during the tournament, is a product of the hugely successful Penarth RFC Mini and Juniors and Youth section of the club, where he started in the under 14s age-group before moving through the age grades to play for the Youth team and senior team at Penarth.
He became a significant factor in a successful Penarth Youth campaign in 2017, when the boys secured both the top position in the Blues regional B league and the WRU Youth Plate final winners.
His potential was identified at under 16s when he joined the Blues South squad and then at 18 years, in his second year of Penarth Youth, he was selected for the Blues under 18s Academy.
After a few games for the Penarth seniors, he was selected for Wales Under 20s where he won his three caps during the 6 Nations campaign.
