PENARTH Gymnastic Club led by head coach Leslie McGennet came away from the latest Welsh Gymnastics Gym for All event held in Sophia Gardens collecting 27 medals across the board in both the team and individual event.

The Welsh Gymnastics-run event covered four Olympic disciplines of beam, bars, floor and vault with all ages and gymnasts’ completing various routines of differing degrees of difficulty.

The Penarth Gymnastic Club entered over 30 gymnasts aged between 8 to 14.

The Level 1 Age 8 Team took overall silver. Sofia Talbot won gold on the beam with Gracie Drew Stokers picking up two silver medals and a gold for beam and vault.

Ava Rae Bowsher scooped gold on the floor and Sydney Baker picked up the silver medal for vault with Lily Baggus narrowly behind winning bronze.

At ages 10/11 Level 1 Macy Whitlock had individual success with a silver medal in Beam. With the Level 1 aged 12 + winning a superb team gold.

Individually Georgia Jones-Marshall won a silver and gold at Beam and Bars with Annabelle Gronow winning gold on floor and bronze on vault. Carly Thurlbert won silver on bars and joint bronze on floor rounding off a superb team performance.

In the Novice Agility Level 1 – aged 8 in the Year Team Dazzle from Penarth Gymnastic Won Team Gold consisting of Sofia Talbot, Gracie Drew Stokes, Ava Rae Bowsher and Sydney Baker who won the individual silver overall.

The Level 2 13+ Gymnasts called Team Mixtures won Team Gold consisting of Carly Thurlbert, Morus Bowen Gold overall (boys’ category), Annabelle Gronow, Georgia Jones Marshall and Annie Isherwood.

Shooting Stars Team Level 3 aged 9/10 won gold, in another highly competitive section where Bethan Fleet was bronze overall, Callie Osbourne placed and Magi Hall individual gold overall.

The Level 3 aged 11/12 Team placed silver medal overall, with Emrys Bowen Gold Individual overall (boys’ category) with Cerys Case and Eva Kibblewhite completing the medal winning team.

At Level 4 13+ Team Spice Girls won the silver medal overall where Lilly Mae Salmon, Isabel Williams and gold individual winner Mia McCafferty.

The coaching team are: Lesley McJennett, Rachel Anne Short, Shannon Hogg and Mrs Lingard OBE.
