SULLY Bowling Club, the Villagers, travelled to Barry Island on Wednesday evening on what turned out to be a beautiful night.

After rain most of the day it cleared to blue sky's and a really great bowling surface at the Athletic.

The mid week side struggled but kept trying, and through twelve ends were only six down, but then as usual faded near the end to lose by 22, with only the one rink up.

Thanks to some really good bowling from A Kelly,D Curtin, J Best, T Murphy 22-15 , two points were secured the other scores had J Hubbard ,R Nethercote,A Rees D Hotchkiss losing in the last two ends 12-15,B Danscombe, H Thomas, K Mahoney, M Hardy,8-23, R Fitzjohn, E Pryer, P Neale, D Edwards 10-21.

Saturday saw the visit of Ynysangharad from Ponty visit the village, and they saw it at its best with calm sea and clear sky ,we even had a fly past for them.

Last year the villagers lost home and away to these and keeping tight heads was the order of the day.

Right from the of it was very tight ,and after seven ends only six in it but one rink ten up.

On fourteen ends it was two up ,one square and twelve shots to the good. This week the home side held firm with 3 rinks up and twenty six shots to the good .

The D Edwards rink with B Curtis, A Rees, D Hotchkiss got in front in the last four ends and won by one 17-16, the D Curtis rink, with G John, J Hubbard,A Thomas won six of the last seven ends to win 27-18. This weeks special mention is for the D Lougher ,D Curtin J Best, T Murphy rink who won seventeen of the twenty one ends and carried the game 34-5 win.
