SULLY Cricket Club defeated table toppers Sudbrook by one wicket in a thrilling encounter on Saturday.
Losing the toss the Spartans fielded first with Dilmon Jacob taking 3 for 41 ably assisted by Andrew Davies 2 for 26 and Sathish Kumar 2 for 31.
Ewan Thomas and Saneesh Chander finished off the innings taking a wicket a piece, but by this time league leaders Sudbrook had reached 241 so the Spartans would need to put on a controlled batting display.
In reply Rasel Ahmed and Saeed Ali opened brightly putting on 30 for the first wicket, but the winning partnership was that between Dilmon Jacob with a superb 94 and Roshid Ahmed 31 of 150.
Wickets then fell gradually and the 9th batsmen was out with the score at 238 with 4 runs still needed. Newbie Abul Khan then took caution to the wind and hit the winning runs ended a good day for Sully winning by the smallest of margins.
