SULLY Centurions 1st XI hosted Monkswood at Burnham Avenue and ran out easy winners, mainly to the contributions of the Thomas brothers (Gareth and Callum) and another fine batting performance from Tom Davies.

Batting first Centurions lost some cheap wickets and were 44 for 4 in the 18th over.

However, this brought together Tom Davies and stand-in skipper Callum Thomas, who put together a century partnership.

Callum eventually fell with the score on 158, having reached 59. Tom carried on and was eventually 75 not out, with the innings closing on 197 all out.

After tea, the hosts never really got going, with opener Jones (41) and middle order batsman Simmons (35) being the only Monkswood players to reach double figures.

Callum Thomas took four catches behind the stumps and Gareth Thomas took four wickets. Two wickets each for Nathan Cuddihy and Lloyd Bruce, along with a wicket for Jake Griffett meant that the innings was all over after 27 overs, with score on 121 all out.

The 2nd XI travelled to Blaengarw with just 9 men and were grateful for some decent contributions with the bat from Harish (44) Jason Hicks (39) and Dan Chaulk (33) as they ended on 164 all out.

The home side reached the target with plenty of overs to spare.
