THE 15 handicapper Simon Collins was the winner of the prestigious Captain's Prize last Saturday at Dinas Powis Golf Club.

This year's captain Stuart Walker commended Collins on his superb Net 63 at the evening presentation and all other competitors on a glorious day at Highwalls avenue.

Rob Hathway, who is having a brilliant season, so far pushed Collins all the way with a net 64 off a handicap of 8.

Fellow single figure player Ian Barclay won best gross with a net 65 off a 4 handicap.

New member Dan Rudge outdid his future father-in-law Paul Evans by winning the longest and straightest drive on the 4th hole.

With all competitors well fed and watered both on and off the course Walker can be very pleased with the turnout and the condition of the course which has been complimented on by several visiting clubs recently.

The game of golf paled into insignificance in the last week when the club learned of the sudden passing of Dinas Powis Golf Club president Colin Thomas.

A former captain and having only been in his present role for a year, Colin will be sorely missed.

The club sends its deepest sympathies to his wife Ange and family. The funeral takes place at St Josephs RC Church Penarth at 11.30 am on Friday 12th July.
