THIS week’s competitions began with a Double Rink game, Murch v Whitchurch, the first meeting of these two teams in this league game.
Each club won a rink, Rink 2 skipped by J. Garland managed to squeeze a win by 1 shot, scoring 13-12 while Rink 2 skipped by P. Ayres were beaten 5-21. The overall score was Murch 18, Whitchurch 33, a comfortable win for the Cardiff club.
On the same night, Monday 8th July in the Evening League, Murch met Penarth Rectory Road on their home green. This second meeting of the season proved fortuitous for the Murch bowlers who secured a win on both rinks.
After two keenly contested games Rink 1 skipped by C. Tranter secured a 22-17 win, and M. Clake’s rink secured a 19-15 win, making the overall score Murch 41, Penarth Rectory Road 32.
On Thursday, Murch Bowlers entertained Llantwit Major at home in the afternoon league, meeting the Vale club for the second time this season.
Murch won 2 of the 3 rinks, narrowly losing by 2 shots on C. Tranter’s rink, 13-15 shots. Rink 1 skipped by M. Clake had a comfortable win of 10 shots, 19-9 and Rink 3 overcame their opponents by 2 shots 19-17. The overall score Murch 51, Llantwit Major 41.
