SULLY Bowling Club travelled to Merthyr on what turned out to be a very pleasant afternoon after the very heavy morning rain.

Set in the grounds of Cyfarthfa Castle, Cyfarthfa Bowls Club were the hosts for this first visit of the Villagers.

Although rusty, as there was no midweek game, Sully got of to a steady start on a very good surface.

With a few changes in the side, it was good to be level all round at seven ends, and as the game progressed it swung both ways, but by fourteen ends although two each on rinks the Villagers were six down, still very close.

On seventeen ends there was a sudden swing again, with sully edging it but it didn't last. The B Griffiths rink with A Smith, H Levick Jones,M Hardy, where never in front from the off losing 13-31,and D Curtis with A Rees, B Danscombe, A Thomas, having been behind all the way ,just got in front but dropped a four an the last end to lose by one,23-24.

The two winning rinks, however, should have won the match but both dropped shots in the last few ends costing the game perversely. D Lougher,D Curtin, J Best, T Murphy,27-18. B Curtis, H Thomas, D Hotchkiss, D Edwards,23-20.

This week has lots of club comp semi finals being played in preparation for finals day on Saturday with a last mid week friendly on Wednesday and our last league game away to Ynysangharad on Sunday.
