SENIOR officers of Penarth Bowling Club recently met with representatives of Vale of Glamorgan and Bowls Wales to investigate the possibility of accessing funds from the local Community Chest.

The purpose of applying for a grant from this fund would be to promote the game of bowls within our locality, but specifically at Penarth Bowling Club.

The club boasts a mixed membership of 108 full, 110 affiliated and 41 summer indoor members.

Facilities include an excellent 6 rink outdoor green, a four rink indoor stadium, comfortable lounge and dining areas and a competitively priced bar.

All of the club facilities are managed and run by a hard working core of members.

The management committee, which is appointed annually, administers the running and affairs of the club.

The club is anxious to arrest the demise of interest in joining bowling clubs and hopes that the grant available, should they qualify for same, will assist their aims.

The money will be used on a number of initiatives to encourage and welcome new members of all ages.

The club is also intending using its facilities for other groups and organisations which may find the premises suitable for them.
