MONDAY 30th September saw the 2018/19 season formally closed as almost 70 enthusiastic members attending the AGM at Rectory Road Clubhouse.

Outgoing president Dave Dalby chaired the proceedings and reflected on what had been a relatively successful season all round.

The men's PG2 side were promoted to Division One as champions having won 11 of the 14 fixtures.

Under the captaincy of John Whitfield they had maintained consistent and competitive bowling throughout and fully deserved the success.

Ladies' captain Chris Davies was equally proud, they having won and retained the Afternoon League title and finishing runners up in the Evening League.

The men's PG1 side however, after performing credibly all summer, fell away at the end to see their challenge for promotion evaporate by losing their late games and dropping to 5th in the league.

However their efforts were further evaporated when their inability to honour, through lack of numbers, their final fixture against champions Beaufort resulted in all their results being expunged.

This left them at the bottom of the table with nil points. This has not been received too well by Captain Russell and his colleagues.

The incoming Officers were duly elected for the 2019/20 season.

Long standing member and club coach Clive Fry was elected as president and he will be supported by Joan Lewis (Lady captain) and Nick Chandler (Men's captain), together with a host of many hardworking volunteers and officers who organise and run the club's affairs.
