SULLY Bowls Club over 60s side travelled to Llanelli to take on the Taff Ely side from Pontypridd in the quarterfinal of the Welsh over60 club championship.

Taff Ely arrived with a strong and very experienced side with strong ambitions to progress.

Things started well for Sully and after 5 ends were 7 shots ahead. After 10 ends Sully were still 6 shots ahead the rink of Dave Curtis had picked up 12 shots over these 5 ends while Mike Doyles rink had lost 12 over the same period. After 15 ends Mike Doyles rink had steadied the ship and picked up 4 shots while the Dave Curtis rink picked up another 5 shots to leave Sully 13 shots ahead. This lead was maintained until the end Sully winning by 14 shots

While the whole team played well and deservedly won, special mention should be made of the leads on the two winning rinks Dave Parker and Gerry White who both bowled brilliantly leading their rinks to victory.

The Sully O’60’s rink of Gerry White, Andrew Harvey, Rod Hudson and Ken McLeod who recently won the Welsh National Title will be representing Wales in the U K National Championships in Llanelli from the 9th - 11th March 2020.
