SCOUT groups from across the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff met recently at Penarth Leisure Centre for the finals of the annual swimming gala.

Teams from Penarth and District were well represented which included 1st Penarth Scout Group which fielded girls and boys from its Beavers, Cubs and Scouts sections.

Adult leader volunteers also can compete against each other.

Results for 1st Penarth were as follows:

3rd and 4th - Over 9.5 Cubs Breaststroke

4th - Beaver Backstroke

1st - Beaver Freestyle

2nd - Scouter Freestyle

4th - Cubs Relay

2nd - Scouter Backstroke

3rd - Under 12 Scouts Breaststroke

3rd and 4th Over 12 Scouts Breaststroke

2nd and 3rd Under 12 Scouts Backstroke

1st - Under 12 Scouts Freestyle

Joint 1st - Under 12 Scouts Relay

4th - Over 12 Scouts Relay

3rd and 4th - Open Relay

The group also won the trophy for the best Beaver section performance, came second in the Scouts competition and 2nd overall as a Group in the whole competition.

Stuart Ingram, Group Scout Leader for 1st Penarth, said: "The annual swimming gala competition is a great way for young people across Cardiff and the Vale to come together in the spirit of friendly competition to pursue individual and group results.

"It is fantastic to see our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts working together as teams and having fun while they do so. We look forward to this well-organised event every year and can't wait for 2021!"
