CORY Hill was pleased to see Cardiff Blues’ display their attacking edge as they secured a bonus-point victory over Connacht.

The Wales star captained his side to victory for a second consecutive week and they did so in style at Newport's Rodney Parade.

Following a frustrating first half in which the Blues claimed only one try through Hallam Amos, despite coming agonisingly close on two earlier occasions, they crossed for three more after the break.

That saw John Mulvihill’s men make it two wins from two in the Guinness PRO14 to remain top of the Conference B table after their 29-7 triumph.

Second row Hill said: “I don’t know if you can call it complete, but we were certainly pleased with the win. We’re pleased with the five points and we stuck in there right until the end.

“We stayed patient as we knew we’d have chances late in the game and yes, we’re pretty pleased to come away with all five points.

“That was pleasing and it’s great to get the win down here. It looks like we’ll be staying here for the next couple of months so we need to get used to it and hopefully we can get a few more wins down here.

“We spoke all week that we were pretty frustrated with our attacking performance last week, and obviously going down to 14 men didn’t help

“But we dug out a good win out there and went to work on our attack a lot more. We spoke about wanting to start well in the first 20 minutes and we came out and started with a bang.

“Unfortunately we didn’t finish off the tries but it was nice to stick right in there to get the penalty try, and also be patient, build through the phases with the forwards and get over for the bonus point.”

The Blues now enjoy a weekend off before returning to action with an away trip to face Munster on Monday, October 26.
