A major upgrade has been unveiled at the Football Association of Wales headquarters.
The £3million extension at the FAW's Hensol base will support the Cymru national teams and enhance facilities across the organisation.
Funded in part by the Welsh Government, the project has delivered a larger gym, expanded areas for analysis and sports science by the existing medical area, and a new ‘boots on’ zone for players.
Coaches now also have dedicated changing facilities.
Noel Mooney, chief executive of the FAW, said: "We’re very excited to open the new wing at the Hensol headquarters, further investing into the Cymru national teams and the wider association.
"It’s vitally important that our national teams and staff have the best possible facilities to enable us to reach our full potential, both nationally and on the world stage."
A new lecture theatre has also been added, equipped with advanced audio and video technology for team meetings, tactical discussions, and media briefings.
Named the Wynnstay 1876, the room honours the FAW’s heritage.
Administrative staff also benefit from increased office space and additional meeting rooms.
The FAW has been based at Hensol since 2020, and the extension marks a long-term investment in the site.
Sustainability was a key focus of the project.
The new wing is powered by solar panels and managed by an upgraded building system to monitor energy use.
A garden area supports local wildlife, and office chairs are made from recycled materials.
The upgraded complex will be used by a Cymru national team for the first time during the men’s international window in September, when Craig Bellamy’s side will face Kazakhstan and Canada.
The FAW hopes the improved facilities will bolster its teams’ performance and support its goal of success on the international stage.
