Penarth Belle Vue Bowls Club experienced a remarkable turnaround in form.
On Wednesday, April 29, the team suffered a crushing defeat against Barry Romilly A, losing all four rinks with a score of 34-93.
The club acknowledged the prowess of their opponents, noting their familiarity with the green and their cohesive team play.
Despite the loss, the players reported an enjoyable evening, buoyed by a warm welcome and good sportsmanship.
However, the weekend brought a change in fortune for Penarth Belle Vue.
On Saturday, May 2, they hosted Roath Park and delivered a dominant performance, winning three out of four rinks and achieving an overall score of 93-49.
This victory was particularly satisfying following their midweek defeat, and the team celebrated the win enthusiastically.
The match was played in challenging weather conditions, with persistent rain soaking the players.
Nevertheless, both teams displayed resilience and sportsmanship, enjoying a post-match gathering despite the weather.
The club highlighted the contribution of the winning teams: Alun Wallace, Ginette Wedge, Peter Esseen, and Bruce Ford in rink 1; Linda Vickers, Nicola Holder, Justine Dyer, and Jeff Wenger in rink 2; and Gerry Field, Alan Rogers, Jacqui Kempa, and Malcolm Thomas in rink 4.
A club spokesman said: "What a match.
"After our thrashing on Wednesday evening we did the thrashing today.
"We needed this win and we were all over the moon.
"A great win to go into the next match with."
