FORMER Newport County AFC forward Nat Jarvis has signed for Barry Town United on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old played for the Exiles on loan from Cardiff City in the 2011/12 Blue Square Premier campaign under Justin Edinburgh, scoring six goals.

Jarvis, who played in the FA Trophy final loss to York at Wembley, was also sent for game time at Southend, Forest Green Rovers and Kidderminster before leaving the Bluebirds in 2013.

He dropped down the English pyramid to play for Bath City, Gloucester, Hungerford and most recently Chippenham.

Jarvis, who has won 11 caps for Antigua and Barbuda, is now returning to Wales to play in the Cymru Premier at Jenner Park.

"It’s a stone’s throw away from my house, so it will be great to be playing closer to home also," he said.

"It's been close before. Me and Gav (Chesterfield, manager) have spoken in probably the last three four or seasons, but I've put it off a couple times not feeling that the move would be the right one for me.

"But this time it feels like perfect timing. I'm really happy to have finally got it done."

Penarth Times:

"It's a fresh challenge for me, which me and Gav talked about a lot. There's the chance to play in Europe too, which I've never done before.

"I'm looking forward to playing against new teams, and they probably won't know as much about me as teams over in England would."

Barry will enter the qualifying rounds for the Europa League after finishing fourth in the curtailed Cymru Premier season.

"This move has been a long time coming, but the timing feels right for both parties now," said Barry manager Gavin Chesterfield.

"Nat is a striker who is different to what we already have at the club and is an exceptional character to have in the dressing room.

"I know Nat is excited to join the club and is looking forward to a fresh challenge in the JD Cymru Premier League."
