Cinema review 'Lilo and Stitch'

A FULL feature animated film is a rare thing in the world of cinema these days.

With computer generated films such as Shrek and Monsters Inc. dominating animation genres, drawings seem like a things of the past.

But here comes Lilo and Stitch, ready to show CGI, how animation is meant to be done - it hopes.

When a mutant alien programmed to destroy escapes from his home planet, he crash lands on the island of Hawaii,

There, he meets Lilo, and so she takes him in believing he is actually a dog.

Just when he begins to learn about familial love, aliens come looking for him, putting everyone in danger.

Alien lands on earth; alien meets child; alien befriends child. Well who would have guessed it? It's a rip off of ET - The Extraterrestrial.

Luckily enough though, despite being a slight rip off, it's still makes an enjoyable hour and a half, without making you glance at your watch every 10 minutes.

The characters are really brought to life by Chris Sanders, Tia Carrere and Ving Rhames and at times you almost forget that it's animation.

In fact, Tia Carrere can stick to being a voice over artist, because she's not really much good at anything else - anyone seen Dog Boys?

Aliens, fashions, single parent families with the threat of being broken up, looks like Disney has gone all modern on us.

Actually that's not the case because at the end of the day, once you've seen one Disney film, you've pretty much seen them all. Cliches including, funny characters, representations and morals are always present in Disney movies, but for some reason nobody seems to care, because it's still perfect escapism and there couldn't be a better way to keep your kids entertained.

The really good thing is that this one had no songs!

It's by far not the best ever animated movie, but it still does the job it's supposed to do which some films can't - entertain.
