THE MAN at the centre of the turmoil on Sully Community Council has hit back at critics demanding his resignation.
The council passed a vote of no confidence against council chairman Ray Cox at a meeting earlier this month.
Ray Cox said: "There are members of the council who constantly disrespect me as chairman and continually hinder council business with cries of'illegalities' - which are used to disrupt the work of the council.
"There have been at least ten occasions when this has happened.
"We do not profess to be experts in the field of local government laws, but just want to get on with the job in hand - which is to serve the community.
"I am left with the unpleasant feeling that these strategies are entirely personal.
"These interruptions create a most unbearable atmosphere within the meetings and to be quite honest I could do without all this unpleasantness in my life.
"The meetings, as a result, are frequently adjourned and council business delayed. This modus operandi is resulting in a dysfunctional community council.
"Some councillors are very confrontational and adopt a most antagonistic approach, resulting in totally unnecessary demands made upon myself as chairman, the clerk and other members of the council."
Cllr Cox added: "The meeting called by the vice chairman on November 10, was against the advice of the clerk.
