A CHARITY event offering handmade jewellery and professional photography will be held at Penarth Conservative Club this weekend.

Tina Rodgers, owner of Jewellery by Sparkles based in Bristol, will be donating 20 per cent of all her proceeds to the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth after she was recently diagnosed with cancer herself.

Penarth-based professional photographers R L Pollard Photographs will also be taking family photographs and donating half of the proceeds to charity too.

“I have recently had an operation for breast cancer and I am about to go to radiotherapy,” said Tina.

“Mine is curable but I want to make sure we do the most we can for the lovely people living in Penarth.”

She added that there were also a wide range of raffle prizes, as well as a table full of cakes, muffins and sandwiches, during the fundraiser.

“Raffle prizes include a membership to the Penarth Pier Pavilion, a bottle of Chivas Regal whisky, a £35 voucher for Print Sauce, bottles of wine, a kitchen clock, Thorntons chocolates and many other prizes.”

Tina, who lives in Bristol, added that she would like to thank her Penarth friends Julia Bullough and Nicola Bullough for helping to organise the event.

Julia, who has been busy selling raffle tickets this week, added that there would also be bric a brac tables and clothes rails during the fundraiser.

The charity event will run from 1.30pm to 5pm on Saturday, March 22.
