THE Penarth Acoustic Club returns to The Room at the Top on Friday, December 19 for another evening of live music and verse.

The evening features invited musicians/performers of proven calibre, the event again promises an evening of high quality entertainment in the intimate setting of the top floor of The Royal British Legion, Station Approach.

The organisers are again aiming to raise the roof and showcase tremendous local talent.

“We are delighted that actor Wil Thomas will return to expertly deliver some poetry and verse”, said Phil Nedin, co-founder of the club. “Wil’s performance of works by Dylan Thomas on the opening night was quite special and was widely acclaimed by the audience that filled the venue”.

Also appearing is Bob Woodley, a singer-songwriter with a long and varied involvement within the South Wales music scene. The talent multi-instrumentalist, Bob draws his inspiration from many genres including folk, blues, Celtic, jazz and protest, delivering his songs with sensitivity and passion whilst engaging his audience with an easy, conversational humour. Now based in Nova Scotia, Bob’s increasingly rare appearances are always eagerly anticipated and always enjoyed.

Kirk Morgan will also perform; the young prolific song writer whose dedication to the live music scene is winning him many supporters far and wide. Playing a mixture of folk and blues Americana on guitar and harmonica, Kirk delivers his songs with an authenticity reminiscent of many a great “American Roots” icon.

“Tickets for last month’s opening night proved so popular that they sold out within three days of going on sale”, said Phil, “and people have already been enquiring about the forthcoming show. It seems clear that the music lovers of Penarth really appreciate the format and cosy surroundings that we are providing and are keen to support a club of this kind”.

The Club will open at 7.30pm, with performances beginning around 8.15pm. With seating for just 35 people, it is strongly advised to purchase a ticket for £5 each; proceeds will go back into the club.
