THE Penarth Acoustic Club returns on Friday, April 3 at their new venue, The Conservative Club, Penarth.

It will be another night of cool live music and verse with the organisers promising to recreate the intimate atmosphere achieved at their former home, The Royal British Legion.

Performing on the opening night will be the incredibly talented duo “Omega Two”. Featuring Jane Williams (vocals) and Pete Mathison (guitar), they will be playing an eclectic mix of Americana, jazz and blues.

Jane’s rich vocals are well known to live audiences locally and further afield. She has performed at the Brecon Jazz Festival, and has also made regular radio and television appearances.

Originally from Cumbria, Pete Mathison, a former London session musician, is a renowned guitarist. His career has seen him play with “Red Beans and Rice”, “Freddie and the Dreamers” and with Ray Davies, the lead singer and songwriter for The Kinks. With the latter, he has toured the world and performed on the Glastonbury main stage.

Also appearing will be guitarist and singer/songwriter David Roberts. Having recently moved to Cardiff from his Herefordshire home, David has been quick to make his mark on the local music scene.

He released his debut album, “St Clears” in late 2014, and is now concentrating on live solo performances, treating audiences to his unique voice and intricate guitar playing that are at the centre of his music.

The night will also include poetry/story reading arranged by Griffin Books, together with performances from hosts Adrian Lewis, Phil Nedin and Nick Treharne.

“Following the closure of the “Legion”, we’ve looked hard to find a similar venue where both our guest artists and our loyal fans can enjoy a great evening’s entertainment without the distractions that can often be found in pubs”, said Nick Treharne. “The new venue not only offers us just what we are looking for, but gives us a slightly increased capacity as well. With all three previous club evenings having sold out, that’s great news”.

With a format that has proved so popular in the past, the club’s organisers are confident of continuing success and are looking forward to welcoming both old and new fans to their new home.

Doors will open at 7.30pm for performances to begin at 8.15pm.

Tickets cost £5 and the venue seat around 45 people so it is strongly advised to get your tickets in advance. Proceeds from ticket sales will go back into the club.
