LUNCHTIME recitals at All Saints Church, Penarth are proving to be very popular with music being of the highest standard and completely free to attend.

Next up will be August Guan on harpsichord on Monday, November 16.

August has given recitals on the harpsichord at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, National Museum Wales and Wales Millennium Centre.

As an active music director, he is mainly connected to the world of the 17th and 18th century music.

He has worked with Peking University Symphony Orchestra where he has introduced students to the Baroque era. He is also a co-founder of the Early Music Centre at the Central Conservatory.

In Beijing he has conducted operas (full or acts), madrigals, cantatas, motets and hymns by Monteverdi, Carissimi, Vivaldi, Handel, Bach, Pergolesi and Purcell from the keyboard; also Blow's opera Venus and Adonis in Cardiff.

Recitals take place from 1pm until 2pm every Monday until November 23 - where the season will be brought to a close by Seumas Begg (Tenor) and Stephanie Jai Smith (Soprano).

Make sure to bring along your lunch to enjoy during the concert.

Entry to all the concerts is free, although many visitors have made a donation due to the quality of performances.

All donations go towards a fund for the restoration of the All Saints organ.

The church is fully accessible to disabled people and a warm welcome to all is guaranteed.
