WELSH violinist Lowri Porter will join forces with pianist Lada Valesova for a special Lunchtime Concert at St David’s Hall on Tuesday, May 31.

Starting at 1pm, the dynamic duo will deliver a compelling programme of Beethoven, Messiaen and Janacek.

Born in Cardiff in 1977, Lowri Porter is assistant leader of Welsh National Opera and also teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Lada Valesova’s latest recording of Slavic piano music Dumka has been selected by New York Times for their Classical Playlist, whilst her album Intimate Studies gained international critical praise. Lada is a professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Tickets are priced £5.75 in advance and £6.75 on the day.

Reductions of £1 off each ticket for standard concessions.

Then later that day at 8pm, British singer-songwriter Martin Carthy will share the stage with his daughter Eliza Carthy in this concert for all folk fans.

Martin is a legendary ballad singer and ground-breaking guitarist, who played an integral part in the revolution that changed folk music forever throughout the 60s. Five decades later his approach to his art lacks none of the fervour of those early days.

As a youngster, Martin was first motivated to pick up his father’s old guitar after hearing Lonnie Donegan. Since then he’s continually captivated audiences with his own magical music, and was deservedly awarded a MBE in 1998.

Likewise, Eliza is undoubtedly one of the most impressive and engaging performers of her generation.

Together they will perform material that includes songs from their critically acclaimed first duo album The Moral of The Elephant, plus a sprinkling of other favourites.

Tickets are available priced at £16 in advance and £17 on the day (plus a £3.95 Ticket Service Charge per transaction and an optional 95p postage fee).

Reductions of £2 off each ticket for standard concessions.

Groups of 10 or more are entitled to £1 off each ticket.
