EVENLODE Primary school is inviting everyone to come see their magical show which will be performed tonight (THURS).

The Year 5 Yong Promoters have been busy organising the show ready for Horse and Bamboo Theatre’s performance of Storm in a Teacup.

A creative and moving family show, for the young and young heart.

The show is by professional touring theatre company Horse and Bamboo and incorporates beautiful and unique theatre, puppetry and mime.

It’s not always easy making friends…especially when you live in a lighthouse surrounded by dangerous rocks, towering waves and troublemaking seagulls.

An exciting opportunity for a tea party with a friend arises when the supply boat comes, but the lighthouse keeper’s nervousness turns what could have been a delight into a disaster. Is it just a storm in a teacup?

The night is funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Night Out, Young Promoters Scheme and supported by local authority, Vale of Glamorgan.

The pupils have been working as a team to plan and organise the event over the past six weeks with visiting artist, Naz Syed with the Night Out Project.

“The Night Out project is important for helping the young promoters work as a team and express themselves creatively. Helping the children gain experience and inspiration for careers towards the creative industries. I have had a wonderful time working in Evenlode with the support of Mr Rees and Ceri (Lambert, school governor), most importantly such an enthusiastic and creative team of Year 5 children.”

Young promoters have been working as managers, marketing officers, designers, managers and more and will be in charge of the stalls and be the stewards, hosts, security, photographers and more on the night.

Head teacher, Steve Rees said: "The children have really enjoyed working on this.

"They have had to do everything themselves, from the box office to promotion and even providing the refreshments. We would like to thank local companies who have been really generous in contributing raffle prizes."

Peter and Maddie, young promoter managers were nominated by their team to take the lead. Their jobs have included contacting the theatre company, organising technical requirements for the show, creating a letter to promote the show and supporting all the other teams.

“We have loved doing the young promoters. I never knew it was so much work having a show in school. We've been learning about box office, tickets, marketing and loads of other things. We're all really excited about the show coming to our school," said Peter and Maddie.

There will be a raffle on the night, which businesses have donated to and name the bear and gifts for sale made by the Year 5 class. Also refreshments and cakes served by the young promoters at the Teacup Cafe. All funds raised will be donated to Evenlode Primary School.
