ALL Saints Church will bring the curtain down on this year's season of Lunchtime Recitals on Monday, November 28.

Performing will be opera singers Zoe Milton-Brown and Jonathan Stoughton with accompanist and piano soloist Anthony Negus. Audiences will hear a programme of arias and songs ranging from Wagner and Puccini to Sherwin and Novello.

Born in South Wales, Zoë studied at Christ’s College, Cambridge and at the Royal Northern College of Music. A recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, she has performed in masterclasses with Nelly Miricioiu, Dennis O'Neill, Sir Mark Elder, the late Sir Philip Langridge, Roger Vignoles and Julius Drake.

Passionate about the importance of outreach work, Zoë's experience includes appearances as the soprano soloist in the interactive opera game The Silent State and as Dr Diva in the Singing Doctors Project in addition to numerous concerts and three recordings, all for Welsh National Opera. Zoë will be the soloist in WNO’s forthcoming Co-Opera Project in Southampton.

Tenor Jonathan Stoughton trained at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School at the Royal College of Music and the National Opera Studio. His studies were further supported by the Wagner Society and by the Mastersingers as the recipient of a Goodall Scholarship.

Shortly after completing his studies, Jonathan made his Glyndebourne on Tour debut in the role of Steva Jenufa and has since been engaged by English National Opera, Opera North, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, Dorset Opera, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Alden Biesen Zomeropera and Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn.

Dafydd Jones, All Saints Parish administrator and musical events organiser said: “We look forward very much to Zoë and Jonathan’s first visit to All Saints. The Music at Lunchtime programme for 2016 will come to a close next week providing a fitting finale to our most successful year yet of free lunchtime recitals.

"We are proud to have been able to provide musical entertainment of such a high calibre to the people of Penarth on so many occasions – more than 50 since we first started.

"I am grateful to all the performers who have given freely of their time this year, and to the people of Penarth who regularly attend our concerts and have been very generous with their donations towards our organ restoration fund. Lastly I would like to thank the little band of helpers serving refreshments every week and providing a warm welcome to everyone at the door.

“The All Saints Lunchtime Recitals will continue in 2017, with a monthly programme starting probably in February. Readers should look for details and on the church’s website – allsaintspenarth.org.uk for details of all future musical events.”

Recitals start at 1pm and last around an hour. Entry is free but donations towards the organ restoration fund are always gratefully received. Teas and coffees are provided and concert-goers are encouraged to bring along their lunch and to eat cafe style on the Gallery.
