1148 Penarth Air Cadet Squadron would like to thank VCVS for their generous Kick Start 3 grant. The grant enabled the squadron to buy new climbing and archery equipment and provide teenagers with the opportunity to take part in activities they wouldn't normally have access to.

The squadron regularly takes cadets climbing to Boulders in Cardiff and with an influx of new cadets the Squadron required new harnesses. The aim is to develop a cadetÕs skills in communication and team work whilst having fun.

The squadron also runs a lot of archery and over the years the current equipment has suffered wear and tear. With the grant the squadron has purchased new equipment and tools to maintain and repair old equipment. These skills will be taught through a project allowing cadets to pass their classifications.

* 1148 (Penarth) Squadron has vacancies for boys and girls between 13-18 years old. The Squadron parade on Mondays and Wednesdays 7pm-9.30pm next to Dingle Road train station. Contact the Squadron on 02920 350448, email or visit www.raf.mod/aircadets or for more information.
