PENARTH’S Ageing Well Club will hold a Christmas festive celebration with help from Age Cymric next Wednesday, December 18.
Penarth Ageing Well Club has had a Winter Celebration Grant from Age Cymric as part of a campaign to combat loneliness and isolation.
The Penarth Ageing Well Club will use the money to hold a festive event on Wednesday, December 18, at 10.30am at Glyndwr Community Centre. The clubs’ aim is to help people 50 and over in Penarth and surrounding area to come together for a couple of hours each week for activities that support wellbeing.
Penarth Ageing Well particularly welcomes isolated and lonely older people in the local area.
Chris Collins, from the Ageing Well Club, said: "We're so pleased to receive this generous grant from Age Cymric.
''This gives us the opportunity to extend a fun-filled event for Ageing Well Club members to other 50 plus older people in Penarth district who might otherwise miss out on the Christmas spirit.
''Thanks to Age Cymric, through the Spread the Warmth campaign, the club can give local older people a day to remember and some company over the festive period. If you are not a regular Ageing Well Club member and would like to attend give me a call on 07964 974 409 to find out more."
Age Cymric is joining forces with older people's groups across Wales to help combat loneliness during the winter months.
Victoria Lloyd, Age Cymru's Director of Influencing and Programme Development, said: "We're pleased to give Penarth Ageing Well Club this gift through the Spread the Warmth campaign, to combat loneliness during the cold winter months.
"Our campaign highlights the importance of looking out for older people in winter and we're delighted to be able to support local groups with this important work."
Penarth's Ageing Well Club meet every Wednesday at 10.30am at Glyndwr Community Centre.
