A FORMER Stanwell School pupil that has made a point of avoiding getting his hair cut is set to shed his golden locks in aid of charity.
Michael Orton, who usually gets his hair cut “at intervals measured in years rather than weeks”, will be having his hair cut at Lazarou Bros Hair Salon in Penarth on Saturday, May 10.
Michael, who attended Stanwell School between 2002 and 2009 before going to university, said: “I am going very slightly out of my way to battle my dislike of haircuts, as it's been 32 months since I last had one.
“I will also be donating my shorn locks to the Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children who've lost their hair through cancer treatment.”
He added: “I am also asking for donations to Cancer Research UK. Cancer is an issue which affects a ridiculously large amount of people.
"In my case, I lost my grandmother and grandfather to cancer, 10 and 15 years ago respectively. In my own very small way, I want to try and help us beat this awful disease.”
He added: “As you can see from the attached photograph, we're not just talking a light trim - this is a serious haircut. Any and all donations will be gratefully accepted.”
