A TRAIN carrying more than 2,000 tonnes of coal had to do an emergency stop after a man fell on to the track near Eastbrook Station in Dinas Powys earlier today.
The man reportedly fell between the railway line and the platform at around 1.40pm this afternoon, May 9.
The man in believed to have walked away from the incident.
Police are investigating the case.
A spokesman from Arriva Trains Wales said: “Following a trespass incident at Eastbrook Southbound lines will be reopened shortly.
“Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes at short notice. Disruption is expected until 3pm.”
Delays are currently being experienced on routes between Barry Island and Cardiff Central, as well as Bridgend and Cardiff Central via Rhoose Cardiff International Airport.
Th train involved was the 10.54 Tower Colliery to Aberthaw fully loaded with coal trailing 2,200 tonnes.
