ONCE again the Vale of Glamorgan’s schools have produced outstanding results, this time at GCSE level.
Cllr Chris Elmore, the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: "The Vale’s GCSE results this year show a notable improvement which is testament to the hard work of pupils and staff."
Entries have decreased marginally by 248 to 12660 this year. At A/A* grade pupils are 1.2 per cent higher than last year's performance. More than one in five GCSE exam entries resulted in an A* or A grade, whilst 70.9 per cent of all entries result in an A*-C grade. This is an increase of 3.9 per cent compared to last year. There has been an increase in A*- G grade passes, which are 98.8 per cent this year, an increase of 0.7 per cent, compared to last year.
The amount of A* and A grades increased from 22.7 per cent in 2013 to 23.9 per cent this year; the number of A*-C grades increased from 67 per cent in 2013 to 70.9 per cent this year; and the number of A* to G grades increased from 98.1 per cent in 2013 to 98.8 per cent this year.
All figures are percentages and based on WJEC entries only. Some Vale Schools may use other examination boards and so final GCSE Level performance figures may change.
