PENARTH MP Stephen Doughty welcomed nearly 80 youngsters from Albert Primary School to parliament last week.

The children, who were accompanied by their teachers on a two-day trip to London as part of their World War I studies, met the local MP in Westminster Hall before heading off to a committee room for a question-and-answer session.

Stephen spoke to them about the history of parliament, his role as an MP, and showed them the World War I memorial to MPs killed in action.

“It was great to welcome the children and teachers to parliament,” said Stephen.

“The youngsters asked some really great questions, and it was fantastic to meet such a well-informed and enthusiastic group who were so engaged by their studies. Their trip to London is something they will remember for a long time – well done to the hard-working staff who made it possible.”
