Extracts from the Penarth Times of January 22, 1965:

About 100 of the 230 ballot forms issued by the Penarth Chamber of Trade to the town's shopkeepers for the vote on the early closing day, are still unreturned.

Local television firms were besieged with calls from viewers to correct faults and fading on their television sets on Monday.

The fault was caused by trouble on a switch at the South Wales Electricity Board sub-station.

Dinas Powys Council may erect an enclosed bus shelter instead of a cantilever-type at Cardiff Road near the junction with Elm Grove Road.

Discussion on the Murch Playing Field Pavilion was deferred at Monday's meeting of Dinas Powis Council, because of the absence of the chairman.

The new Penarth filling station in Plymouth Road is to be officially opened tomorrow, Saturday. Situated on what was a little-used part of Penarth Railway Station, this fine new Shell station is conveniently placed for town traffic and the large forecourt provides a good safe pull-in.

"The Emlyn Williams Country," a book printed and published by the Penarth Times in November, has been a sell-out.
