DINAS Powys Post Office is set to move further along Station Road into the Village Stores newsagents next month.

The new post office will enjoy longer opening hours as it becomes a modern open-plan local style branch based in a retail premises.

Post Office products and services will be available for 79 hours a week, including longer weekday, all day Saturday and new Sunday opening times.

The Post Office has confirmed that the new branch will open at 9 Station Road at 1pm on Thursday, May 21.

Local residents opposed both moves on the Dinas Powys Pictures Facebook page, but following two consultations the moves have been confirmed.

Post Office Regional Network Manager for Wales, Adrian Wales, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Dinas Powys and we are confident that this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future."

He added: “The changes to the branch are part of a major investment programme to 2018, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see over 8000 branches (about two thirds of the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
