DINAS Powys branch of the WI recently had the great pleasure of handing over a cheque for £1,016.79 to their chosen charity for the year, the Mesothelioma fund at Llandough Hospital.

This figure was boosted by the proceeds of a fashion show of Edinburgh Woollen Mill's spring and summer collection, modelled by members (Not a plaid skirt or Botany wool twinset in sight!).

The Parish Hall was definitely the place to be that night.

Friends and neighbours swelled the audience who reacted enthusiastically to each model as they paraded between the tables rather than on a raised catwalk.

Perhaps the glass of wine included in the price of the ticket had something to do with that!

With their 20 per cent reduction ticket in their hands many of them later rushed into the shop to take advantage of a bargain in what was a truly comprehensive mix of practical, stylish garments.

All in all it was an evening enjoyed as much by the models as the generous audience. A big 'thank you' is due to the many willing hands working behind the scenes who made it all possible.
