ON TUESDAY, May 12, Penarth RVS members had a very pleasant surprise.

A VE Day party with sandwiches, cakes and flags greeted them as they entered the hall.

Many thanks must be given to Mrs Stacey's daughter who thought of the idea. She also cooked all the cakes and made the sandwiches.

Noari played wartime tunes on the piano and members joined in singing them. It was a wonderful afternoon but a little emotional at times.

A vote of thanks was given by members for all the hard work the members do.

Tickets are available for their summer outing on Tuesday, June 30. Tickets are £14 for members or £16 for visitors.

On the day they will leave All Saints grounds at 10am. They are hoping to visit a pottery works and then onto the Globe Hotel, Porthcawl. Before they return home they will have a stroll around.

The afternoon drew to a close after the raffle and the departing hymn.

There is no meeting on Tuesday, May 26, but they meet again on Tuesday, June 2.
