MORE than 2,500 people attended Ty Hafan's pirate-themed fun day in Sully on Saturday, July 4.

The sun was shining for the annual event where crowds were entertained by Bro Radio, the fantastic Rock Choir, live bands and local dance troupes.

Hospice tours were given so visitors could see the facilities at Ty Hafan.

As well as fairground rides, craft stalls and outdoor games, visitors enjoyed a treasure hunt plus appearances from Jack Sparrow, Jake the Neverland Pirate and Tinkerbell.

Emily Fradd, marketing and events officer at T? Hafan, said: “The pirate theme was extremely popular and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Staff were extremely busy taking tours around the hospice all afternoon. The Fun Day is a great opportunity for us to be able to show the general public around and bring them up-to-date with the breadth of services we offer in the hospice and in the family home to the hundreds of life-limited children, young people and their families across Wales.

"The sun was shining, there was lots of fun and smiles everywhere.

"It was a wonderful day all round and I would like to thank all those who came along, especially our amazing volunteers, who made it so special.”

T? Hafan would also like to thank Dow Corning for sponsoring the event, Aberthaw Power Station for sponsoring the activity on the main stage, Barry Island Pleasure Park for sponsoring the fantastic pirate ship and the Associated British Ports for sponsoring the treasure hunt.
