Representatives of many local organisations attended the annual Civic Service held in St Peter’s Church Dinas Powys.

The service was conducted by Rev Andrew James who welcomed the Chair of the Community Council Councillor Keith Hatton, fellow councillors and residents.

Hymns included Morning has broken, Calon Lan and All people who on earth do dwell.

Readings were from Isaiah Chapter 6 by Councillor Steve Thomas and by Councillor Janie Jones in Welsh from John 13.

The Dinas Powys School Choir sang two beautiful songs much to the delight of the congregation. Mrs Emma Messer directed the choir.

Representatives of the community included Scouts, Girl Guides, Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern, RNLI, Probus, WI, RVS Friday lunch club, Wednesday afternoon club, Dinas Powys residents group, foodbank, Bethesda Chapel, Murchfield Hall Association, Village Show and the Head teacher of the primary school.

Councillor Hatton thanked all the organisations who contributed so much to the life of the community.

He said, “We are very blessed to have so many active voluntary groups. The community council is very keen to work with such bodies to further improve the community.”

The Ecumenical Seven led by Dr Hayden Jones entertained the guests to their usual high standard.
