A NURSERY promoting the Welsh language will reopen after the summer holidays on Monday, September 7.

Cylch Meithrin Dinas Powys has three weekly sessions for two to three-year-olds on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.30am - 11.30am in the Kynance Hall at the village end of the Common.

The Cylch is supported by the Mudiad Meithrin organisation which ensures a high standard of qualified staff and venue.

Area development officers regularly visit and observe the sessions, making sure high standards are maintained.

Organisers say this is an excellent introduction to Welsh language education, the first step towards fluency in Welsh for children who live in the community.

The children then progress to Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pen- y Garth Welsh Primary School in Redlands Road, Penarth and eventually to Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg Comprehensive School in Barry.

As well as the Cylch sessions, there is also a mother and toddler group - Ti a Fi- on Friday mornings from 9.30am to 11am, where babies and toddlers, accompanied by their parents or grandparents, are introduced to the Welsh language through books, play and song in Welsh.
