WESTBOURNE school is congratulating its pupils on an "outstanding" batch of GCSE results.

A total of 21 candidates sat the English system exams with a spokeswoman for the school saying they are "very pleasing results."

A number of international students including a Ukrainian and a Thai national who both did exceptionally well.

Natalie Sukprasongphol gained six A*s and two As displaying that she is a "perfect IB student" according to headteacher Ken Underhill.

He added that their success really showed the international feel to the school.

Three year ten pupils also undertook GCSE exams with impressive outcomes.

Scott Holmes of Penarth achieved six A*s, three As and two Bs and will be starting the international baccalaureate next year.

He said: "I was quite shocked. There has been a lot of hard work since the end of October so I am really happy it has paid off."

Having been at the school since year 6, Scott now plans to relax until the next stage of his education begins.

William Thomas Price was over the moon to have done so well in his English Literature exam.

Despite not getting what he wanted from his Art, he says he the "unexpected"A in English gives him new options.

He passed in both Biology and Maths and is delighted with his literature result and has a very positive attitude towards his future prospects as he praised the work of staff at the school who had helped him achieve.

Pavan Sidhu achieved five A*s and five As in another impressive accomplishment and local pupil, Olivia Olphert secured five A*s, three As and a B and is also set to study the international baccalaureate at Westbourne.

Headteacher, Ken Underhill said: "I am pleased to announce that almost 50% of our pupils achieved an A*-A GCSE qualification.

We have seen an excellent set of results. This is thanks to the hard work of the pupils and outstanding support from the staff."
