CHARLOTTE Church may not be the most popular person in the Vale this morning, with reports suggesting that her 30th birthday celebrations on the weekend were so loud they could be heard from more than three miles away, until 5.30am.

Sleepless residents as far as Sully complained that music reported to have come from her home in Dinas Powys was still blaring out early on Sunday (February 21), the day the popstar turned 30.

Online commenters reported that the music was coming from two large marquees in the garden of Miss Church's home on the Twyncyn.

One nearby neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "We saw the marquees going up so we assumed there was going to be a party, but we had no idea it would go on until 5.30 in the morning. It was absolutely appalling.

"The point is, if that had been me or you having a party until that time of the morning the police would have soon been around and put a stop to it."

He claimed that he has since heard from neighbours who have children or needed to be up for work the next day, and were particularly unhappy about the disturbance.

Online, a debate was sparked on a Dinas Powys community page when Adam Jackson asked: "Anybody hear loud music like there's a band playing somewhere? Its 4am and they are still going."

Several people said they believed it was coming from Miss Church's birthday party, and complaints were made by residents across the area.

Dewi Jones said: "If you live in a village community you have a responsibility towards your neighbours. You could hear the bass beat in Michaelston-Le-Pit. Selfish and inconsiderate behaviour."

Helen Bond added: "It was a nightmare. I thought it was one of my neighbours and I live in Eastbrook."

Rowan Young said: "Wow, I'm in Millbrook and heard it till 5am, I'm all for people having a good time but the noise was ridiculous."

Linda Leo added: "I heard it from near Dinas Powys station. Can't believe how many people suffered from one selfish person's noise."

Others defended Miss Church from the complaints.

Jill Davies said: "Charlotte is 30 today. Chances are that she feels worse than any of us after her party. I hope we can forgive her."

"Stop being such a bunch of kill joys," added Gregg Heathfield. "Live and let live. I live down the road from Charlotte and I slept soundly. Get a life."

Ailsa Enos said: "Goodness me what a curmudgeonly lot some of you are. Sounded a fabulous party and I live one minute from her house. My only complaint is that I wish I'd been at the party. Lighten up everyone."

A spokesman for South Wales Police said that five calls had been made in reference to a loud party in the Dinas Powys area in the early hours of Sunday, February 21. Those responsible were contacted but no arrests were made.

Charlotte Church's management have been contacted for a comment.
