LLANDOUGH Community Council has appointed a new chairman.

Councillor Roydon Collier succeeds cllr Pat Carreyett for the 2016/2017 year.

Cllr Collier said he was delighted to be elected as chair.

"It is a privilege and I look forward to leading the council in the provision of services for the people of Llandough and representing them over the coming year," he added.

Outgoing chair, cllr Carreyett was installed as chairwoman of the council at the annual meeting in May 2015.

Cllr Carreyett attended many civic services during her year in office and she said she was "very proud" to represent the council at these occasions.

"I would like to thank my fellow colleagues for their support in 2015/16 and the caretakers for their excellent work in ensuring our local amenities are maintained in good condition and thanks to the clerk for his help and support on council matters," she said.

"I would also like to thank councillor Roy Collier for his support as vice-chairman."

She also paid tribute to former councillor John Huish who passed away following a lengthy period of ill health recently.

She said: "John was a stalwart of the community and always put others before himself.

"For over ten years, he and my husband ran the community transport service which was highly appreciated by the community. He will be sadly missed."
