THE weekend of September 3-4 promises a feast of quality bowling at the Rectory Road green as both ladies and men's summer competitions are concluded.
The finals will commence at 10am on Saturday and Sunday and spectators are welcome to witness what should be an enjoyable two days.
Men's finals:
Championship - Ron Birkby v Russell Daniel
Handicap - Mike Conway v Ron Birkby
Novice - Nick Thomas v Alan Stockham
Two wood singles - Clive Fry v Nick Chandler
Seniors - Ron Birkby v Brian Hocking
Four wood pairs - Jack Beanland and Mike England v Ron Birkby and Nick Thomas
Two wood pairs - Brian Brennan and Paul Church v Clive Fry and Russell Daniel
Mixed pairs - Bob Hill and Belinda Price v Kath Jenkins and Peter Needham
Ladies Finals
Championship - Sue Croll v Kath Jenkins
Novice - Joan Lewis v Wendy Grant
Two wood singles - Jayne Edwards v Christina Church
Two wood pairs - Chris Davies and Lorraine Palmer v Viv Duckers and Betty Jones
Four wood pairs - Christina Church and Norma Duggan v Sue Roberts and Diana Willcocks
Both Championship finals are intriguing battles with Ron Birkby claiming, at 79 years of age, to be the oldest bowler to reach the Men's Championship final. Russell Daniel, being a relative newcomer, will have his hands full to hold off Ron's challenge.
The ladies final will undoubtedly be a momentous tussle with Sue and Kath both being amongst the most consistent and competitive bowlers this summer.
