Following their recent efforts for Penarth Holiday Week, Penarth Players are settling down to the hard work of their Autumn session of rehearsals.

In spite of dreary weather, Belle Vue Ladies' Captain's Day went with a swing. The friendly match not only fun but produced skilful bowling. The rinks included husbands and special guests.

The Scouts 1966 Expedition Trophy Competition was held last Saturday at Lavernock Point near the old fort. There were only 13 patrols competing, although a total of 21 had promised to attend, the defaulters being mainly from outside the Penarth district.

On Wednesday last the Penarth Music and Arts Club resumed its meetings with the first of a series of extra - mural lectured on Modern Music.

Penarth Council has agreed in principle to Penarth twinning with the French town of St Pol de Leon, which is on the coast of Brittany and has a population of near 9,000.

The Maire of St Pol de Leon is expected to visit Penarth in the next few weeks to discuss the full implications of the proposal for the twinning of the two towns.

Penarth Air Cadets will visit Staverton Air Museum in Gloucestershire this Autumn. This replaces the projected visit to the British Aircraft Corporation's plant at Filton which has had to be called off.

The Penarth and District Girl Guides' Association will hold their annual swimming gala on Saturday, October 1. Winners will then go forward to the South East Glamorgan Divisional Finals, which will also be held at Penarth Baths on Saturday, October 8

One hundred members of the Penarth WRVS Darby and Joan club have recently returned from a week's holiday in Torquay.

The party, with officers of the club, set out early on Saturday, September 10 and were seen off by the chairman of the council.
