A RESIDENT at Penarth’s Morel Court Care Home took has taken a stroll walk down memory lane with a visit to the BBC Wales studios.

Marion Jenkin started work at BBC Wales in 1946 at their studios in Llandaff, Cardiff.

She went on to work as a programme executive with the Welsh Language channel S4C. There she developed and commissioned programmes for the BBC and S4C for 16 years before retiring in 1983.

As a surprise for Miss Jenkins, community coordinator at Morel Court June Mansell arranged a visit for her to go back to the Llandaff studios for the first time in 33 years.

Talking about the visit, which was arranged as part of Morel Court’s Seize the Day initiative, Mrs Mansell said: “Marion thoroughly enjoyed her return to the studios and told some stories about her time there, explaining the revolving Globe TV interlude scene and how it worked.”

During the visit, Miss Jenkins sat at the newsdesk, read the weather, met a Dalek and opened the Tardis.

Miss Jenkins said she was thrilled and delighted at the visit, where she reminisced about her days at the BBC and was taken aback about the effects of odern technology has changed since the days she worked there. She added that she was very grateful to Mrs Mansell for arranging the special outing.
