A TECH firm from Penarth has become the first Welsh company to join a stock exchange accelerator programme.

OpenGenius joins 17 other companies in joining the London Stock Exchange Group's ELITE international business support and capital raising ecosystem recently.

OpenGenius, creators of project management software iMindMap and DropTask, is based at Tec Marina in Penarth's Terra Nova Way.

The hope of the business is that the growth this will help achieve in the next 18 months will put them in a position float on the stock exchange.

The Elite UK community now includes more than 520 businesses, from across 26 countries and 36 sectors.

Chris Griffiths, CEO of OpenGenius said: "We are delighted to be the first company in Wales to be accepted on London Stock Exchange Group’s ELITE programme.

"Wales is a great location to build and grow tech based companies and this is why we decided to build Tec Marina, our 20,000 sq ft 'Silicon Valley’ style headquarters there.

"Our cloud based productivity tool Droptask.com continues to grow globally with over 80 per cent of our users overseas. "We feel this opportunity with ELITE will help us accelerate the business over the next 18 months to put us in a position for a subsequent flotation."
