TRADERS in the town have installed planters outside their shops as part of a new scheme.
Glebe Street traders have taken part in a Penarth in Bloom pilot which has seen planters purchased by traders to test the scheme that it is hoped will be rolled out across the town in 2018.
Penarth in Bloom is running several pilot schemes in the town this year, to prepare for a larger project in 2018.
It also includes the Arcot Street Triangle, West House Garden and Kymin Grounds Improvement Programme.
The planters were commissioned from Vision 21, a charity based in Cardiff that provides work experience and opportunities for adults with learning needs.
The team at the workshop built 20 bespoke planters which were then filled with flowers by Peter Knowles to a bespoke design. The initial 20 planters were distributed by Penarth Town Council.
A Town Council spokeswoman said: "We are delighted that so many Glebe Street traders have opted to take part in the scheme.
"We are grateful to the volunteer efforts of Peter Knowles and look forward to seeing more planters in the town centre next year."
